I’m A Mitsubishi Driving Soccer Dad - Seriously
Being a single dad to a couple of 5 year old twin boys isn’t the slightest bit a stroll in a park. More so seeing that its little league soccer season all over again. This time around yours truly is in charge of getting the team uniforms produced.
Being one of just three male parents among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a bit of a struggle to get most of the committee to come to an agreement not to change the team’s jersey color from red to a color in the pastel palette which I can’t pronounce. But as much as we tried, we failed in our valiant attempt to change the team moniker to The Red Dragons from The Red Flamingos.
After sourcing for team jerseys, and believe it or not - sponsors, I realized that our soccer team did not even have its very own logo. I shared this matter with the other two dads and we decided that it would certainly be a wonderful idea if we were to have our own team emblem. So we took it upon ourselves to design a logo sample each and display them to the committee.
All three of us met the subsequent weekend with our cutting edge designs and had a good laugh, before we realized that non of us could design to save our lives. Seemingly my Flamingo took on the look of a Woodpecker on performance enhancing substances. The touted da Vinci like designs from the other two dads weren’t that much better. One might pass off as a work by Picasso and the other looked like bored doodlings from a hapless victim of a 6 hour long department meeting. But we went along and handed the rough designs to the committee anyway.
Though the committee collectively prohibited the 3 of us from designing anything for the club for the remainder of our lives, they did agree to the idea that the team should probably have its very own logo. So I went back home and Googled logo design mexico, chose a couple of design firms and gave them to the committee.
Now we are excited to say that our soccer team has finally got its very own logo. We had logo sewed on badges made for the team uniforms and stickers printed for the fun of it - thanks to a small but adequate sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop we always take the kids to after a game. The logo itself appears quite cool with a an unabashedly red Flamingo standing on one leg with the other leg resting on a soccer ball with its wings akimbo.
A little bird told me that next year I’ll be in charge of water based sustenance. I’m considering taking it a notch higher and am planning something big to present to Red Bull about a sponsorship agreement.
